Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m a judger. I take one look at someone and can usually come up with assumptions fairly quickly. I don’t think that’s necessarily a BAD thing, afterall, we were born with some sense of “this is good…this is bad” in us, for the most part, but how much is a learned behavior? What are our judgements founded upon? Our childhoods? Our religious backgrounds? (now that’s classic.) What about the corporate culture that most of us adhere to on a daily basis? Do any of these things effect or play an influence in how you view others?
Here is the part that cracks me up though: I am a tattooed, rock n roll playing gal, who absolutely LOVES business and the role that goes along with corporate America. It doesn’t make sense. I’ve had people tell me that. So me, of all people have no room to judge anyone. I mean, the LAST thing I want others to do is judge me based on decisions I made with I was a young girl, still trying to figure out who I was. I like to think that when you spend 5 minutes with me, all judgements are put aside.
I was having lunch last week with Hazel Walker and she was cracking me up with her “airport people watching” stories. How she just makes up stories in her head about where someone comes from and what they’re about sometimes soley based on shoes, clothing…the list goes on and on. Then she just sits back and laughs at herself because it’s so silly. Hazel is very authentic and I have a deep respect for her. It’s not that we WANT to judge, it just comes naturally. Human Nature.
A lesson I’ve learned through past experience, is often times when you open yourself up to those you judge, they can end up being a very close friend. Or perhaps you were right in your judgements (we still must listen to that inner voice inside us when it screams “this is not right!” What i mean, is this is not about being gullible…it’s about opening up to people who may not be like you.)
A tattoo that is very visible to you all when you meet me is one of a cherub kissing a serpent. (Wow, I know that may sound gross, but really, it’s actually a beautiful piece of art.) The entire point of this tattoo was to recognize that beauty can be found in things we don’t necessarily consider appealing. That is one reminder to me to keep me grounded in what really matters. And that is making a difference in someone’s life on a daily.
Here is a classic example of judging and being very wrong. Unfortunatly, I couldn’t just put it up here, but here is the link:

So my question to you is one that my dear friend, David asked me the other morning…WHO ARE YOU GOING TO CONTRIBUTE TO TODAY???
I love tattoos and don’t for a minute regret having any of them, I’m currently getting a dragon tattoo down my right arm can’t wait to get it all done! as can only afford shortsessions at anytime. My local artist is extremly good and also extremly expensive but, he’s worth it! Fantastic site btw
but I thought you could tell me how to do that!! ;-)
