Okay, so if you are like me, I tend to let outside influences affect my attitude. This is obviously not the smart thing to do, but it’s human, I’m human, so there’s that. It’s not that I can’t control my emotions on my own, it’s that I am one of those people who can have really high days, and really low days. I also notice that I do better on sunny days. Can anyone relate here?
Winter in Indiana is pretty lame, especially when it’s not snowing. My question is, how often do we let uncontrollable factors control our attitudes toward business and toward people we come in contact with? A good friend of mine sent me this Optimist Creed for the New Year. Some of you may have read this before, as I had, but I feel it is worth reading again. Actually, it’s worth reading daily (if I could ever be so committal (not sure if that’s a word, but I feel it works here.
). I highly doubt that any of us can do this 24 hours of everyday, but it’s a good start. Definitely something to strive for.
So, here you go. If you take something from it, great. Here’s to 2009 and making it positive for everyone around us!
Optimist Creed
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble
Cheers!
