So, I am new to this whole blogging thing, and I was reading over Kyle Lacy’s post from this morning on 20 Things We Have Learned From Blogging. Great post, Kyle. I noticed (as I should have begun this weeks ago), that one of the biggest issues for me as far as blogging is concerned was, is, can be, INTIMIDATION.
I have read so many great posts by so many talented people on Smaller Indiana. For those of us who are new to a community, as I have only recently joined SI, it can be hard to just jump in. But that’s exactly what you (I) have to do. Jump in.
As with any venture, be it personal or business, there are definitely risks. (Like, is there a spell check on this thing because I am constantly typing way too fast?) No, I’m kidding…kind of…but the real issue is when you put who you are, your thoughts, ideas, a-ha moments out there, the thought of being judged can make it very scary. And of course there is always the content card that many seem to have issues with at times.
So, as I start my blog today, I realize that there have to be tons of people out there that are like me. They want to post, but there is that one thing that is stopping them. Fear. With that being said, I will take some advice from Beyond Your Best and finally, finally, throw out the old tapes.
So, Hi. My name is Lindsay Manfredi, and I am so open to making to friends, connections, and partners. Check out my spot and say hello.
Hi Lindsay,
Great post. Thanks for the invite to respond to your post. I have a blog I need to pull back into the present at the link listed. My goal has been to work to prevent conflict between the U.S. and China as our interests begin to clash. I need to find more time to dedicate to this endeavor.
I met you at the Gary Vee book event in Chicago a while back. I have followed you on Twitter since then. My name there is @GlobalWonk. I have not really been active on Twitter for some time either. I need to find the right balance in life that allows me to spend enough time on all of the things I am interested in, without neglecting any of them… Maybe in my next life!
I thought your “An evolution of love” post was beautiful. It is VERY easy to judge someone. I am glad you have found what works for you and those you love. As long as that circle is happy, nothing else matters.
Best Regards,
Jim Miller
